Journeyman

Journeymen in Mythic Europe

Generally speaking, a journeyman is a member of any trade or profession who has completed his (or her) apprenticeship but is not yet skilled and prosperous enough to take apprentices of his (or her) own. In Mythic Europe the term is used both in mundane trade and craft guilds and in the Order of Hermes.

Journeymen in The Order of Hermes

In Hermetic society, a Journeyman is a title commonly used in the Rhine Tribunal and perhaps other Tribunals to signify a magus that has passed his Gauntlet but has yet to prove himself. These are often young and inexperienced magi. A Journeyman is expected to eventually reach the position of Master, although some do not.

The term is further used by House Verditius to similarly refer to young and weak members of the House, who have yet to reach the rank of Master.
