Open Call
An open call is a way Atlas Games gets members of the fan community involved in writing new Ars Magica products.
Atlas Games does not accept unsolicited submissions of Ars Magica material. Most of the Ars Magica products are written by a group of freelance writers who have a history of working on Ars Magica. From time to time, in order to provide new people with a way to become Ars Magica authors and enlarge the author pool, the Line Editor chooses a specific topic and invites the general public to submit short sections (usually two thousand words or less) about it.
If the Line Editor thinks a person's submission to the open call is particularly good, he or she may invite its author to become a regular Ars Magica author with the opportunity to write for many more future books. This is not automatic and depends on the quality of the submission, as well as the submitter's ability to follow instructions, meet deadlines, and work well with others.
How to Find Out About Open Calls
The best way to learn about open calls is by checking the Atlas Games Web site (or subscribing to one of its various feeds: Facebook, Twitter, RSS, etc.). Announcements are also usually posted to the official forum and the Berk List.
Project: Redcap will also try to post links to the open calls on the News and/or Products page, but this is a manual process. There may be a lag of several days between the original announcement and it being reflected on this site.
Products Written by Open Call
Open calls started with ArM4. Some products were written entirely through submissions to an open call, while others had only one or two chapters contributed by community members.
